Just got done walking the dog. The phrase “being content” kept popping into my head so that got this whole thought process going. In the infant stages of the Bitches View we talked in length about being real. It is a great concept but sometimes a challenge. In my 20′s I did a lot of bending, trying to be everything to everyone, even if it meant compromising who I was. Then came my divorce. All of a sudden you are stripped down to the core. People you thought you could count on were lukewarm and standoffish. Your life is thrown under a microscope. Your parental skills are being discussed by people who have never spoken to you. Jane Doe down the street is looking at you with disgust. Ahhhh, speculative judgment at its finest. It was in the lowness of that hour when I discovered my real self. I was suddenly the only person I could count on. Reflecting back, I was lucky. I got another shot at my true principals, it was like I got to start from scratch because I had nothing left to lose. It was all I had left to give my kids….REALNESS.
So, am I conTENT…..yes…. but I am always tweaking the CONtent.

Being ConTENT with your CONtent
What have you done lately?
You know……that one thing that you accomplished that even made you sit back and go “WOW, I did it”. With me it is that one very intimidating thing, opening up and looking into the guts of my computer. Makes the palms of my hands sweat just thinking about it. But Friday, I opened it, replaced a drive (thanks for the phone backup Harry), closed it up and the magical moment came…..badda-bing-badda-boom…. up and running! When it is your livelihood it makes it a bit more interesting, drawing off of your own resources can be mentally draining, but completing the task has it’s own set of rewards.

Sometimes, even when we think outside the BOX, we tend to get put into BOXES other people make for us. That is why I like this quote so much. I like the idea of defining myself. Is that person always accepted? Probably not, but that is alright also. l How boring if we were all alike!
Defining yourself doesn’t mean crossing lines, it means using the morals and values you were raised with and combining it with your own integrity. It means taking ownership……and sometimes it means letting go of who you think you are in hopes of what you may allow yourself to become. De-Fined!
