What’s the connection?
Lou has had family connections to the area all her life and has lived here for 31 years. It was quite a change at first, but would never go back to living in the city. She enjoys all four seasons and the people that they bring. Lou & Tim purchased the local store in 1999 and it has been a whirlwind since. Lou has had many great Bitches enter her life and is always excited to have people connect with others that share the same interest.
Arlette & husband Lance moved to the area about 10 years ago. They originally came from Iowa, vacationed in this area and thought it would be a great place to live and start a new chapter of their life. They began frequenting the local country store and over a period of time, the topic of walking dogs came up. Arlette was looking for a place to go and Lou suggested they meet in the State Forest. That was the start of a great friendship not only with Lou & Arlette, but also Rudy & Miller, the labs. During these walks, Lou and Arlette discovered how much their lives parallel each other and still continue to do so today. Many stories were shared and problems solved on those walks; then came the snow-shoeing, biking, and any other event that sounded interesting.
Then came Bobbie! Bobbie and her husband Tom were also starting a new chapter in their lives. They retired from farming in Crookston and decided to head to the cities to be closer to their children. The cities were not for them and they moved north, choosing Park Rapids for its location and activities. Tom first met Tim at the local country store and the rest is history. Lou & Tim invited them to a lake gathering and it has been a wonderful friendship since. They also share a love for outdoor activities and it wasn’t long before Bobbie was snow-shoeing with Arlette & Lou and more problems were solved and events planned.
Linda has had local ties all her life, as her family owned a cabin on Two Inlets for many years. Four years ago, Linda and her husband Steve started another chapter by deciding that Linda would live here permanently and he would go back and forth to work at his company in Grand Forks. Linda was a little hesitant at first because of the lack of shopping and activities but soon discovered there was a lot to do and usually not enough time to do it in. Steve and Linda frequented the local country store and that is where they met Arlette & Bobbie. They have known Lou & Tim for years and pretty soon Linda was joining in on the hikes, bike rides and events.
Fate brought these Bitches together and from that came great friendships, life challenges and a wonderful network of caring-independent women.
